Does anyone know how long it takes to get to Helsinki from Tallinn by boat? Also approx how much?
Also how safe is Tallinn to wonder about in on a short break, is it safe after dark? I%26#39;ve heard scare stories of pick pocketing etc??
Many thanks

Hi
It takes 2 hours with Tallink to make that crossing.
Now where did you hear that scary story? First of all you would be hard pressed in the middle of summer to find a dark place to be pick-pocketed, and in the winter it%26#39;s too cold for people to wander about ungloved sticking their hands into random pockets.
Seriously, we have been to Tallinn many many times during every season and have wandered about at all hours. We have never ever felt the least bit insecure.
I%26#39;m sure there are pick-pockets but on a far lower scale than say in London or Barcelona, or in fact any other capital city. The only danger is taxi-drivers, some of them have super speedy meters, but as it is such a small city then you can usually manage without using them.
Tallinn is very safe and well worth a visit, in fact after a day in Tallinn you wont want to go back to Helsinki.

Two hours by the larger ferries, 1.5 on Linda Line. Bear in mind that landing takes longer with larger ferries as herds of passengers take time to get ashore.
I%26#39;ve been going to Tallinn for over 30 years and have never been robbed. I am not the most sober of visitors and have been known to visit shady parts of town. By contrast, a girlfriend of mine got robbed several times - she did this by flashing her money and credit cards around and leaving her bag invitingly unzipped up.
Watch your step to a reasonable extent and you won%26#39;t have any bother.
