2 nights in Tallinn - Where to Stay??

Dear all,

We are a couple in our late 30%26#39;s going to Tallinn in late June for 2 nights and I have been having toule on deciding where to stay.

As we are only there a short time I thought it would be best to stay in the old town. Would others recommend that?

If so I would appreciate some advice on where is a nice hotel to stay. We like small boutique hotels of a high standard but obviously would prefer to get the best deal possible.

After reviewing TA I have been looking at the following.

Bern Hotel

Baltic Vana Wiru

Old Town Maestro

or in a higher price category are Three Sisters or Merchants House.

I would prefer a cheaper hotel if possible and would appreciate other travellers opinions/ recommendations on where to stay.

Thank a lot.

We stayed at an appartment rented out by old house in Tallinn. Maybe they accept 2 nights only rent???

The staff were friendly and the location is in the old town. No breakfast though. But you have a kitchen.

Whichever you choose, you may get a better deal if you negotiate by phone with the hotel. Failing that hotelclub.com and speedhotel.com both have good deals on the Imperial Baltic hotel, which is very centrally located in the Old Town and should suit your needs

Negotiating by phone is a good idea but take in consideration that the end of June is a peak time because of the coming Song Festival(1-7.07.2009) so the hotels do not need to make discounts. I am also for the apartment rentals because of the better value for your money but If you still want a hotel in the old town make sure that the windows do not face the streets which are filled with tourists (better to face the inner yards so you can get some sleep)

Thanks to everyone for your input. Ultimately booked at Savoy Hotel - got a great deal on speedhotels.com - great website.

Thanks again

Been there, several times now. One of my favorite in Tallinn. Savoy is a good choice, You do not have to regret it. Recommend to try their restaurant as well, local Estonian dishes. If You are lucky then You can chat with their head chef too, he is a great guy and he loves what he is doing there.

Hiya,

We stayed at the Savoy last year %26amp; found it really good.

We%26#39;re going back in 2 weeks but staying at a different hotel purely for budget reasons.

Just down from the Savoy is a really nice bar called Nimeta (Bar with no name) %26amp; both the food %26amp; drink are exceptional. There is another bar called Drinks Baar, Vaike Karja 8, Tallinn, which is only just round the corner. It has a vast variety of beers %26amp; ciders %26amp; fantastic food.

Details of the Drink Baar can be found at www.facebook.com/profile.php…

%26amp; Nimeta at www.facebook.com/profile.php…

Have a fantastic time, we never go back to the same place twice but have found a place in our hearts for Tallinn %26amp; the ECA (Estonian Cricket Association) so we%26#39;re breaking with all our traditions %26amp; looking forward to going back.

We stayed at Tallinn City Hotel Serviced apartment. It%26#39;s right next to the Old Town, on Kaarli and faces a garden courtyard.

Owners are very friendly and the rates are really good considering you are on the same block as the 5 star Palace hotel and St. Barbara.

The old town hotels can be quite noisy at night, since they are also located in the same area as all the clubs and pubs. The rooms are tiny too, since the buildings were built in the 15-16th century.
