Hi all, is it difficult ot travel to and travel within these areas without own vehicle? If we go by public transport, how much of the sights can we see?
Are there organised tours to these places from Tallnin? Thanks.

We went on a day-trip to Lahemaa including a couple of the manor houses there. This was a regular trip with a guide booked through Tourist Information (may be others). In late May there were only four of us on the minibus and the guide said the most she ever got was about eight. See:

I think public transport would be difficult.
Don%26#39;t know about Saaremaa.

Thank you for this information. I hope your trip is not rush and enjoyable.
Did you do other days trips from Tallnin?

We enjoyed the trip and it was relaxed. We had very good weather.
We did no other trips outside Tallinn area, we went out to TV tower, Pirita, Folk Museum on local buses. The rest of the website I quoted shows where we went.

Hi. We live in Tallinn and have a holiday home on Saaremaa. Saaremaa is just beautiful and is seen as the real Estonia (even by Estonians). Easiest way to Saaremaa is by bus from Tallinn. Journey takes about 4 hours (Tallinn to Kuressaare - main town on Saaremaa) and costs about 12 euro. This includes the ferry crossing which takes about 20 mins and gives you time to get off the bus and enjoy the crossing. There are regular buses.

Thank you for the note, appreciate that. Is two days too short a time to visit, including travelling to and fro from tallnin or Parnu? Which is the best place to spend the night if I decide to do an overnight stay.

We took a guide from TravelMerchant and did the Old Town tour - very professional people. They also do trips to Lahemaa, check under Tallinn guided tours at www.travelmerchant.eu
Have a pleasant trip,
Helena

Hi, when aru you gonna be in Estonia? If you have only two days then Saaremaa would be my first reccommendation. And take the regutar express bus Tallinn-Kuressaare, then you can see also estonian landscape while driving to Virtsu harbour. Ferry ride is olso included, you can get fresh sea air. You get off from ferry in Kuivastu harbour, this is island Muhu. So you can see both islands, Muhu and Saaremaa. the same bus takes you through Muhu to Saaremaa.
greets to Muhu also! this is the place I used to spend all my summers. my grandma lived there.
let me know if you need help with bookings, glad to help and arrange. no extra cost!

Hi, Thanks for the offer. I have come back from the Baltic, a fruitful and great trip. I spent 2 days at Sareema, visited the windmills, meteorite crater and also the National Park. Visitor Centre at the Park wasn%26#39;t open on the day I went there, so I did not venture much into the forest. Sareema is a beautiful place. Without a car, a lot of time is spent waiting for the bus for the return journey. The tourist information centre did offer taxis to the various sites, worthwhile if you are in a group.
Maybe in the summer, the bus schedules would be more frequent.
Just a note to those who are buying discounted ferry tickets to Helsinki (one shop at the Old Town), they only accept cash, no credit cards (impose a 3- 4 Euro charge). You may wish to budget accordingly on your last fews day in Tallnin. They accept Euro though. Shop around, some agents also offer the same discounted rates. rgds

The cheapest and easiest way to see Lahemaa is with EstAdventures. www.estadventures.ee
