having spent many holidays in the states- where tipping is seen as unquestionable... I wondered what was the acceptable % in tallinn.. and when /when not to tip.
having said that we always tip here and on every holiday unless we receive very bad service / food.
Ashamed to say i%26#39;m not sure what the estonian economic climate is like so what sort of % would you leave for
Waiter
Bar person
Taxi
Room service/cleaners
appreciate you thoughts...

Hi
I would usually give roughly 10% to a waiter or a taxi driver, although in Tallin you have to watch the taxi drivers, nothing to a barman unless he served at the table and about the equivalent of a fiver (£5) would be left in the room for the cleaners for a weekend stay.

Tipping in Estonia is not common amongst Estonians. It has only become somewhat expected in the tourist areas because visitors often think they should. But Estonia historically is not a tipping culture so to speak. Wait staff earn a salary and don%26#39;t live off tips like in the US. Estonians in general don%26#39;t tip in restaurants, taxi drivers you usually just round up to the nearest EEK and room staff gets no tip. They don%26#39;t expect tips so don%26#39;t feel guilty not leaving any.
If it makes you feel better you can tip, but it%26#39;s not a common practice amongst locals.
Have fun.

Thank you Alex for this and the other %26quot;%26quot;tips%26quot;%26quot; you have given me...nice to know a tip isnt expected but if good service is given a little award I feel should be given... over here I would give in these circumstances ....
