I am looking for somewhere to stay in or near the old town for one night in August. On trip advisor I see people talk about getting special summer rates for the top end hotels in order to make them affordable. I particularly like the sound of Schlossle Hotel. How do you go about finding/getting these great rates? We can not afford their standard rates.
If anyone can suggest an alternative nice affordable accommodation, that would be fine too. We like having our own ensuite toilet/bathroom, but other than that we are just looking for somewhere clean and quiet enough to get a good nights sleep. A good breakfast (we need to leave early though) would be a benefit. Our ideal place is somewhere with a bit of character.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hello
this site covers both the schlosse and st petersburg hoel.. contact them directly.. very expensive I thought.. I would also suggest
http://www.merchantshousehotel.com/ email and speak directly to jonathan their general manager... the dite doesnt mention any special offers for summer but he will know if any are coming up.
and lastly I have just returned having stayed at
http://www.imperial.ee/
this probably would nbe cheaper of the lot.. again email Moonika she is the g.m. there.. fab hotel... i will be placing photographs soon on this site...

Hi UnsureNow
Thank you so much for your helpful suggestions.
I wish I had longer to stay, but it was a late addition to our itinerary. We only read about it when we were looking at info on Helsinki.
I am glad you have been able to suggest a couple of other cheaper options. I would only stay at Schlossle or other similar price hotels if they were at a marked discount. Apparently some hotels get up to 40% discounts in summer - I find this crazy, but would love to access such disocunts if they existed.
I am looking forward to the visit. Any advice of must sees/do would be appreciated. Did you have a favourite place to eat?
