Hi,
Does anyone know the best way to get to the Meriton Grand Hotel from the Ferry station? We will be taking the overnight ferry from Stockholm and will need to reach the hotel once we dock in Tallinn. Has anyone stayed at the Meriton Grand Hotel lately? Any advise on which are the best rooms to request? Thanks.

Hi.
I would suggest a taxi, to be honest. The price from the port should not exceed much 100 EEK (around USD 10). Ask the driver and refuse and take the next one if they suggest it would be significantly more than that.
But if you travel light and love to walk, according to the hotel the distance from the port is about 2 km and I guess it should not take one much more than 20-30 minutes to walk from the port.
You can also mix taking a bus for one or two stops and walking, but then you have to walk to the bus stop anyways and that basically takes you back to the question do or do you not want to walk with your luggage. (Taxis stop right outside the terminal).

Thanks for your message. I guess it will depend on how tired we are from being up all night on the ferry from Stockholm. At least we will have an idea of how much a taxi ride should cost. Is it per person, or for 4 of us in one car? Do they have minivan taxicabs there so we can share? We are going to take minimal luggage and throw/give away clothes as we go to replace with whatever we buy. I am tired of lugging large suitcases around so we are taking next to nothing this trip!

Hi!
The price would be for a cab not by person. If you need a minivan you may ask the drivers in the que to call one for you. Some of them may not be co-operative, but usually they forward the info that you are lookig for a van to their colleagues via their own infosystem. I have not been in the port lately, but they most probably have an info desk, where they can also call a van for you.

Thanks very much for your suggestion. We would only need a minivan if we can%26#39;t fit into a regular cab. We are just a little worried about the stories we hear of cabs charging way too much to visitors. With our US dollar we don%26#39;t have as much to spend as we would like. I hope it rebounds after our election, but since we are leaving next week, it isn%26#39;t likely to go up by then. Are there plenty of ATMs that take US ATM cards there at the local banks? I don%26#39;t like traveling with cash and I don%26#39;t like traveler%26#39;s checks. Thanks

ATMs - more than in several counties that I have visited. You may ask the locals for the closest if you can not locate one. %26quot;Cash%26quot; in Estonian is %26quot;sularaha%26quot; , ATM %26quot;sularaha-automaat%26quot; or easier %26quot;panga-aautomaat%26quot;, %26quot;bank%26quot; is %26quot;pank%26quot;.
Have a good time!
