Hi
My partner and I are flying in and out of Riga and hoping to get up to Estonia and travel up to Tallin via Tartu Sigulda and possibly Parnu in Latvia. Is it possible to do this itinerary over a week, we spend the first two nights in riga and the last night in riga. we are hoping to just bus it around these countries. is this feesable?
any advice would be greatly appreciated. would any places be better than others?
Thanks

I think this is definitely do-able. Assuming you have 2 days in Riga, you can easily take a bus to Tartu and stay there a day and then take a bus to Tallinn for two days or so. Which leaves another two days to get back to Riga. I took the bus from Tallinn to Tartu and it was a two and half hour trip and cost a total of 140 Kroons (14 American dollars). I am also pretty sure there was possible bus transportation to Riga as well from Tartu, which is bound to be only a bit more expensive, and the distance is also around two hours by bus. So, I think it is a definitely a do-able trip and easily feasible. If buses arent to your liking, I%26#39;m pretty sure trains run both places as well.

Oh yes and in terms of some places being better than others. Parnu, in South-west Estonia, is definitely a summer resort town with a population of only 50,000 people. If you are going in the summer, I think it would be worth to visit; I hear the beaches are excellent. Both Tallinn and Tartu are great places to visit, but Tallinn is much bigger. If you want to see the city, Tallinn is the place to go; however, if you would rather see the countryside, you can take some excellent day trips to South-east Estonia to Opetaa and Voru, which are excellent places for hiking, fishing and the like. I honestly don%26#39;t know anything about Sigulda Latvia though. But a lot of definitely depends on what you would like to see in Estonia.
