My husband and I and some other friends (from Florida) are coming onver on the ferry from Stockholm to Tallinn. We want to but a 7-day Baltic Bus Pass for Latvia and Lithuania. The bus website does not let you purchase them in advance and we will be there May 1st and wondered can we buy the bus pass in advance or is it really necessary?
Also, once we get to Vilnius, we need to take a train to Warsaw. Any suggestionss? Will the Baltic Bus system take us to the end of the Lithuania Border so that we can board a train to Moscow or what do you suggest?

Hi Sweetpea,
I have not heard of the 7day bus pass. but i do know that Eurolines, www.eurolines.ee do a 14day bus pass for 79euros.
You 100% do need to book inadvance your route and time of bus you will take. otherwise there is a high percentage the bus will be full.
please find below the text from eurolines:
Baltic Pass - free travel for 14 days!
It consists of a pre-printed card, which enables travelling by Eurolines buses without paying for the ticket in between of the Baltic States cities and St Petersburg in 14 days. The card holder will be provided a brochure of timetables along and is free to choose a travel period, which is being registered at time of purchase.Click here to learn timetables valid for travelling with Baltic Pass.
Baltic Pass value is EUR 79 and is available in the Eurolines ticket sales offices in the bus stations of Tallinn, Riga, Vilnius and St Petersburg.
Although the card holder is free to travel as many times as there is a need in 14 days, travel is upon space availability and it is highly recommended to book a seat prior to departure on client service number +372 6 800 909 for Estonia, +371 721 4080 and for Lithuania +370 52 33 6666.
The Pass is aimed for passengers evaluating comfort as travelling without handling tickets for each travel. The Pass is as %26quot;all-in-one%26quot; product with respective timetables along with the Pass, thus one has not have to know all separate schedules and travelling opportunities by heart or search for it.

The 14 day is what we want, but their website does not provide a place to purchase the tickets or to contact them. It does provide a place to schedule individual bus tickets, but not the pass. There is no way to reserve the buses we want on their website. We need to know how and where to buy them and how to reserve them...
Thanks...we really need your help.

Hi sweetpea,
I called eurolines for 20minutes and finally they answered. phone nr + 372 6 800 909
I must admit the person whom answered the phone is the most stupid person i have spoken to in 5years of being in Tallinn, Estonia.
She informed that you can only buy the ticket at the bus stations, Which i cannot believe. additionally there website states that it is recommened to purchase 48hours in advance.
My Estonian staff also spoke to this woman, but her Estonian was poor and again my staff said that this woman was extremely stupid....
I would recommend writing an email:
info@eurolines.ee
Explanning the situation of what you have done.
Inform them of the route
Buses/time
Names of people travelling as pass cannot be transfered.
Where to pick up tickets
Credit card information
Sorry I could not be of more help.

The buses do get pretty full.
I%26#39;ve taken the train from Vilnius to Warsaw in Poland during the day
Depart Vilnius 11.41
(Change at Sestokai over the border in Poland - v.easy)
Arrive Warsaw 20.21
For a really detailed description of how to do this check this excellent website.....http://www.seat61.com/Lithuania.htm.
You can also check the times here www.bahn.co.uk. It%26#39;s the English version of Germany%26#39;s national rail company%26#39;s website and has timetables for the whole of Europe (although it won%26#39;t have the prices)
I was able to book that train journey in advance in the UK but the train was pretty empty so it would have been OK if I%26#39;d bought the tickets when in Lithuania - not sure if that%26#39;s always the case.
If you go by bus from Vilnius to Warsaw it%26#39;ll be about 8 hours - but I%26#39;d take the train if possible.
Are you trying to get to Moscow as well?! If you want to do that from Vilnius there%26#39;s a night train but you%26#39;ll be going through Belarus during the night and will need to organise transit visas for that country, which you%26#39;ll probably need to do before leaving home and it%26#39;s an extra expense. If it%26#39;s just a case of visiting Russia while you%26#39;re in that part of the world it might be easier to visit St Petersburg from Tallinn instead (overnight train or day/night buses).
Do note that if you take any night trains or buses over borders you will get very little sleep as you will be woken up for border control in the middle of the night!
