We are planning a tour of Estonia and the Baltic States, possibly including Russia. How cold is it in May? What do you recommend for us to see in Tallinn area? We are not the best walkers. Any ideas or info welcomed. Mamatoad

Average temp is around 14 for the month of May.
Things to dd on Tripadvisor is spot on:
Old Town
Toompea Hill in old Town
Kadriag Palace, Park etc
Open Air Mueseum
Would recommend going to Russia especailly St pete.
Please remember you need a visa for russia which can take time.

Tallinn is absolutely fabulous town and well worth your time to explore. The Old Town being the highlight. There are plenty of tours available or you can catch the hop on/hop off bus around Tallinn but it does not go into the Old Town..you have to walk around the Old Town but its gorgeous with plenty of fantastic cafes, restaurants and interesting buildings.
For something special, I suggest a restaurant called Gloria%26#39;s which is above average prices but worth the experience.
Other places of interest outside of Tallinn are Parnu, Haapsalu, Saaremaa Island and Tartu.

I visited Tallinn in May 2007 and the weather was better than usual Scottish weather for that time of year. When the sun was shining I only needed a t-shirt or light jacket but at night it was colder.
I really loved the Peppersack restaurant and Olde Hansa restaurant. At Peppersack we got to watch a performance sword fight and then belly dancing while eating dinner. Best to check their website to see what time the show is likely to be on.
