Hi Linda,
Did a similar trip last October. Stayed at the Olevi. Fascinated by the bottom side-up hotel; really unique. Schlepping your luggage downstairs then up may be a problem, unless someone is there to carry it for you. Meals good and waitstaff was very pleasant. Good location, too.
Took the bus from Riga to Tallinn. Nice bus and it stopped at Parma for a 20 minute break (so the driver can smoke, I suppose). It was a six hour ride - scenery not startling.
Took the fast ferry to Helsinki on a Saturday morning, not all that full. About 1 1/2 hours. Nice ship.
I think you%26#39;ve developed a good plan (other than two trips on the bus).
Best wishes

I suggest to take a night train from Tallin to Riga with a sleeping berth.

Bus Tallin to Riga takes under 6 hours and will cost around $6.
Suggest you take this rather than train.
|||
Bus takes to riga 5-6 hours depending from the line. Return ticket costs about 25€.

Would like to have your report after you return from Tallinn and Riga.

Does anybody know if there is a ferry between Tallinn and Copenhagen?
|||
There is no passenger ferry to Copenhagen from Tallinn, the Siljaline Finnjet goes to Rostock and from there you can probably get to Copenhagen and Tallink sails to Stockholm, there may be ferries available sailing south from there. Hope this helps

Linda, your plan seems very good, nice route!
As for the suggestion of taking a night train from Riga to Tallinn, I was looking for the same thing this autumn and only found that there is no such train.
The easiest way is to take a bus, takes 5h one way and leaves from the central bus station several times a day.
Both Tallinn and Riga are beautiful destinations. I personally took a guide in the latter through www.travelmerchant.eu and was highly satisfied as going around with a professional guide was well worth the expense.
Ferries to Helsinki run frequently and you should have no problem with getting a ticket!
Have a good trip!

There aren%26#39;t any trains from Tallinn to Riga.
If I were you I%26#39;d fly from Riga to Helsinki and then get the ferry back to Tallinn. You can get a one way flight Riga %26gt; Helsinki on air baltic for less than 30 dollars including the tax if you book it far enough in advance. www.airbaltic.com
