Tallinn Estonia

We will be arriving Tallinn on May 16 with Holland America cruise%26quot;Eurodam%26quot;.We dock at8am and set sail at 4p.m. With that short period of time, we don%26#39;t want to miss any %26quot;MUST SEE%26quot; attractions. Please advise. Heard about Kadriorg? Is there any %26quot;Hop On Hop Off%26quot; transportation?

Thanks

Hello,

Old Town is obligatory to explore. It is one big historical monument. You can do it independent or with a guided groups (visit http://www.tourism.tallinn.ee/fpage/explore/sightseeing).

Kadriorg is in a few tram stops from the city center, besides Kadriorg is on the route of Hop-on Hop-off Tallinn City Tour - Green Line. Buy a 6 hours Tallinn Card, it gives more opportunity for sightseeing (www.tourism.tallinn.ee/fpage/tallinncard).

To have a rest after a long day you can in one of the restaurants or cafes in Old Town. Olde Hansa (www.oldehansa.com) or Peppersack Restaurant (www.peppersack.ee) will spend you with farewell medieval lunch.

You can walk from the harbour to the Old Town. It%26#39;s not so far to walk.

The look-out points at Toompea hill are worth visiting for rooftop views of Tallinn.

Town hall square.

Most museums are pretty small here so it won%26#39;t take long to visit one if you want to.

If you have time, go even further than just Kadriorg... see the ruin of pirita monastery/klooster.

I would suggest to do the underground tunnel tour but that takes 2 hours at least. With your timeframe, it might be better to skip this.

All the sights within the Old Town are walkable. You will only need to use the public transport if you go to Kadriorg or Pirita.

Thanks?

Please can you tell me if we can use Eoro? What is the weather like middle of May? Hopfefully its good.

|||

The weather can be good in mid-May. Bad weather means rain rather than snow at that time.

You will need local currency. A few places will take euros or even U.S. dollars but at a considerable mark-up.

With the amount of time at your disposal, you will be pushing it to get to Kadriorg. Rather than rushing about in an effort to see everything, I suggest you stay in the Old Town and take your time. There is plenty to see there.

|||

Again thanks, please tell me what kind of currency I need to exchange from Canadian to your currency, about how much we will need, say for all the attraction you suggested and a nice lunch for two. not much for sovernoir but like to buy a little bit for keep.(like a nice coffee mug.)

|||

Drawing money from an ATM is usually the most cost-effective, but you%26#39;ll have no problems changing Canadian dollars at an exchange office or (better) a bank. There%26#39;s no point in changing your money twice if that%26#39;s what you%26#39;re thinking of.

|||

Actually, you could pay for lunch and your souvenirs with a credit card, so the amount of Estonian crowns you%26#39;d need would be very small.

|||

Creditcard is all you need!

Use yellow Tallink taxis or white Tulika taxis - they do accept creditcards!

|||

Thank you, will bring credit card, don;t think we will be using taxi though.

How much should one plan for a taxi from the cruise dock to Toompea for two people? Thanks!
