Is Tallin safe for a single woman travelling alone? Any recommendations on where to stay and what to do in three of four days?
Thank you.

Tallinn city centre and the Old Town are safe, which is not to say that you should abandon all caution. Don%26#39;t do anything obviously stupid and you will be fine.
Check out the hotel reviews on this site for places to stay.
Things to do: spend day 1 in the Old Town. Pick up a bunch of brochures and other free material from the city tourist information office and peruse them at leisure over lunch or - better still - over a beer in the Town Hall Square. Or read http://www.tourism.tallinn.ee/eng

I was in Tallinn in early february 2009. Although I was not travelling alone, but it seems to me that Tallinn is pretty safe. Or course the usual guidelines apply - just use your common sense. No flaunting off money and jewelries, no going to dark alleys, etc.
Tallinn old town is pretty small. It is definitely walk-able. Museums are mostly small.
Reval cafe atVene street serves yummy chocolate cake.
I stayed at one of the apartments managed/owned by Old House. It was good and well located.
Go up the viewing platform at Kohtu and Patkuli.
For cheap nice big-sized pancakes, go to Kompresson at Rataskaevu 3. Very fulfilling. :)

As someone pointed out - it is very safe unless you put serious effort into looking for trouble. When will you be coming? Starting from May it will be quite busy and crowded with tourists. Before may it will be more peaceful and quiet. As of the %26quot;to do%26quot; list we can be more helpful knowing your preferences. There may be good concerts (jazz is coming to town in good quality always in springtime), modern dance shows, film festivals or then again some people just like to sit in the Town Hall square and do nothing much :)

As f where to stay... Any area in Old Town or near it is ok. The distances in the center are not so long.

Having visited both San Francisco and Tallinn I would say that Tallinn felt considerably safer than San Francisco (not that I felt unduly concerned in San Francisco). If you act as you would at home you will have no problems at all.

Hey Maggie, I%26#39;ve been here several days now (also alone) and I feel very safe here. I don%26#39;t walk around much at night but I see many girls doing so with no problems.
When will you be arriving?
