We are travelling to Stockholm for the first time and would like to spend a day or two in Tallinn and a day or two in Riga, Latvia. I know there is a ferry from Stockholm to Tallinnn for $225USD each, one way, which sounds a little high. It is for an outside cabin with a double bed. We don%26#39;t want to take a cabin with four berths because we%26#39;ve never travelled this way before and dont%26#39; think we%26#39;d want two strangers sharing the room with us. Do we have any other options? We%26#39;d stay overnight in Tallin then take a bus from Tallin To Riga. We%26#39;d spend a night in Riga then take a plane back to Stockholm. I%26#39;d like to hear from someone who has done this or any part of this. Any suggestions? comments? hotel recommendations? can we book online? do you think we should do it now or wait %26#39;til we get to Stockholm? Thanks so much! Karen

Hi,
On the ferry you can also have the cabin with 4 beds all to yourselves, it should be cheaper than the double cabin. You can book the ferry online at www.tallink.ee and it is definitely a good idea to book in advance.
There is a great shuttle bus service between Tallinn and Riga, Lux Express: http://www.luxexpress.eu/. It offers great comfort for a very reasonable price. You can also book online. You could also check Air Baltic for the Tallinn-Riga leg (also Riga-Stockholm) of your trip: www.airbaltic.com, usually they have really low rates.
About hotels in Tallinn: there are tons of options and it is difficult to recommend something, not knowing your budget. But most of the hotels in the city centre (especially in the Old Town are in a walking distance from most of the sights and places to visit. If the budget allows, there are some really nice hotels with a true medieval atmosphere in the Old Town. You can check out the hotels in Tallinn here: …tallinn.ee/fpage/…facilities. Unfortunately I don%26#39;t know about hotels in Riga.

Take the Tallinksilja ferry, ot Viking. tallinksilja.com. The outside cabins with double beds are the most expensive classs. I%26#39;ve just done the trip and had an inside cabin with two single beds (not bunks). It%26#39;s 144 or 194 Euros one-way, depending on when you%26#39;re travelling. The ferry is a splendid craft, and sailing through the beautiful Stockholm archipelago is unforgettable.
In Tallin, I stayed at the Baltic Imperial Hotel which is just off the main square. It is comfortable and the breakfast is excellent. You can get good rates on hotelclub.com or speedhotel.com. You could also try phoning and negotiating a price.

Hi
We always book a luxury cabin, outside with a double bed and find it is well worth it. The price includes a full breakfast of everything you can think of, a bottle of sparkling wine, a couple of beers and soft drinks in the fridge as well as a bowl of fresh fruit. There is a decent set of toiletries in the bathroom too.
To reduce the price a bit more you should join their bonus scheme, it costs 10 euros and gives you 15% off the trip.
We also book the Tallink buffet for dinner, it is scrumptious and very reasonable.
Have a good trip
Jackie

Thank you,Jackie, we just got back and the %26quot;ferry%26quot; was wonderful. Outside cabin, double bed but no wine or beer so I guess it wasn%26#39;t the deluxe - but much better than I was expecting. Tallin was a great city but we liked Riga, Latvia even more. Thanks for your comments.
