I am trying to decide if we should head east along the coast or go west from Tallinn and go to Kasmu for a night and then onto Tartu. The beach town of Parnu sounds kind of predictable, maybe like many bech towns, am I wrong? We only have a few days to see Estonia, so I%26#39;m not sure what%26#39;s best.
Thanks for any advice!

Parnu is a lovely town, very green and has a laid-back atmosfere even in summertime in my opinion(even though it is the summer capital of Estonia). I%26#39;m not entirely sure what you mean by a predictable beach town and what your expectations are. Tartu is quite different and I would personally recommend Parnu in summertime. Any other questions let me know and I%26#39;ll try to answer as best as I can.

Who are %26#39;we%26#39;? What age group is your party?
Parnu beach is certainly not a typical beach and has a variety of activities. Having visited many beaches around the world I still look forward to visiting it.

I would say that if you look for something different than Chicago then the small beach towns on the north coast like Käsmu and Võsu or Altja village are more different because they are in Lahemaa national park, so they are empty and quiet, lots of nature and ancient history.
I love Pärnu- the beach, the small old town, architecture, many concerts, lots of activities- but it%26#39;s more crowded, full of tourists. So it really depends what are you looking for.

What crowded and touristy means in Estonia and Parnu is still not all that busy or touristy if you compare it to really touristy places! I think it%26#39;s chilled out and relaxed even when the locals think it is very touristy....

Yes, Käsmu is a lovely old village with small houses and has a special place in the heart of all of those who have spent parts of their summers there. Käsmu has a countryside charm and lovely nature. If you go there in the righ time of the year you may pick wild blueberries in the pine forest and just have incredibly good time in a small village and pure nature that makes so many people I know smile as they think of their childhood summers that they spent there.
Pärnu is busy in Estonian terms, but compared to mayor beachtowns it is still a lovely laid-back small town. It has more streets and more houses and more SPAs and more cafes and restaurants and more people, but it is still a lovely small town.
I love them both, but one is nature and small summer houses and the other is a SPA town with parks and cafes.
The choice is yours.

It sounds like a painful decision to make; both are lovely. Whichever you choose I don%26#39;t think you will regret it!
Sadly the only real solution to this would be to stay in Estonia longer, but then you could end up staying there forever!
