Hi there
Can anyone tell me what happens in Tallinn on NYE? Do people congregate anywhere at midnight or are there fireworks, music or a night market?
I spent last NYE in Munich and was sent to the (completely desolate and freezing) Olympic Park - rather than the Town Square where all the fireworks and fun were ... don%26#39;t want to be missing out again and am really excited about visiting Estonia for the first time!
Thanks

Hi,
yes we have fireworks, Tallinn arranges it and many people are doing it too. It starts 11 am (russian salutes Moskows new year) and at 12.00 its pretty big firewors everywhwre in the town.
Many people congreate in the oldtown and in the Vabaduse plats (Freedom ground) .
No nightmarket, but many pubs and nightclubs are open, but if you arrive earlier than 31.12, pls check with ones sell tickets and have they tickets left. Many pubs take just reservations, but even without it you can find a nice place (i hope).
.. but it is freezing here too, certainly in the night, thats for sure!

Thanks Hellin, don%26#39;t mind the cold - was just sad to be sent in the opposite direction to all the fun in Munich! At least we realised in time to see in the New year with the locals! Really looking forward to visiting Tallinn - it looks beautiful.
Thanks
Jo
