A few questions

We will be in Tallinn from the 5th-10th September as part of a Baltic experience tour. ramblersholidays.co.uk/…

We are staying in the Hotel Mihkli on Endla

We are 2 middle age guys and will be touring with a group of similar aged travellers with a company we have had similar holidays with before. We have a package of walks and tours organised and when we do have free time we have a few plans of our own. We have a few questions we hope you can answer that will help us enjoy our holiday even more.

1. looking for a nice pub for a late lunch and some nice beer where we can relax for an hour or so on the free afternoons we hope to have any suggestions welcomed, but local brewed beer is what we are looking for as well as local cuisine (we will eat and drink just about anything or at least have a go)

2. Evening time we are looking for a pub for a bit of entertainment and some nice beer, not into heavy rock, house music, techno etc,but local bands ,folk music that sort of thing ,somewhere we can spend our evenings in an enjoyable and civilised manner.

3. Pubs showing football on TV. We are happy to sit of an evening watching football or any other sport in a nice place with decent beer, not looking to get drunk but a couple of beers and a taste of the local spirit is what we are after.

4. Live football, if there is a match on at the local stadium let us know been to a few matches all over Europe so like to get to one, we will of course support the local team; we are Heart of Midlothian fans our local Edinburgh team.

5. Live Entertainment venues, are there any places that might do a Folk evening with floorshow meals etc.

6. 10 pin bowling alleys. We are both pretty good players and are always on the look out for a game, are there any 10 pin alleys in the city if so please let us know and how to get there.

We will probably have a few more questions as time gets near but hopefully you can help with these.

Hello

I%26#39;m a teatotal person who%26#39;s completely uninterested in football, so I%26#39;ll pass 1-4! 5 I don%26#39;t know, but 6 I can answer...

There are two ten pin bowling alleys, both only a little distance from the city centre.

There%26#39;s a small one at Pirita literally at the top of the beach, with a fantastic sea view. No offence to Fountainbridge etc, but it%26#39;s got to be one of the nicest places you could have a game!

Sadly it%26#39;s website is a bit useless: www.bowlingclub.ee/sisu.php?club=3%26lang=est

Buses are 1A, 1PR, 8, 34A or 38 from under the Viru Centre to the stop announced as Pirita (which is the one just after you pass a concrete hotel and then cross the river). More info here soiduplaan.tallinn.ee/…

There%26#39;s also one at Rocca al Mare. The website is also unhelpful, but I gather it%26#39;s a bigger and more expensive club. http://www.amb.ee/uus/?get=3 I have no idea who in Tallinn could afford those prices.

But if you were going to go there it%26#39;s buses 21, 21B or 22 or trolley bus 7 from the railway station, or trolly bus 6 from the Kaubajama (big dept store)

thanks for than info very helpful and the link to the buses is a great help.

The prices for the second place do see quite high in comparison to the first but still reasonable to what we pay in Britain.

The same sort of thing applys in Prague (a place I travel to a lot) there are a few places the prices are reasonable but one place I go to that is a lot more expensive as it is a haunt of the ex-pats and they have the money to pay for it.

Not sure about where to watch football but here are some bars we liked

Hell Hunt at Pikk 39, great beer and great atmosphere. Busy and lively

St. Patricks at Suur-Karja 8 was a lovely bar and quite quiet

The Beer House, Dunkri 5, (http://www.beerhouse.ee/) to taste some of their unpasteurised brew

Enjoy Tallinn - we have been twice and loved every minute!

I like the look of the Beer House and there is also some entertaimnent on at nights whilst we are there.

choices of food looks very interesting especially the variety of sausage type meals (i really like that sort of food).

Beers look very interesting ,as a lover and regular visitor to Plzen in the Czech Republic(My avatar is a picture of me being poured a beer from the great barrels in the Plzen brewery cellars)I will definately be trying their Pilsner beer.

Thanks for that ,it is a place we will sure to make a beeline for.an ideal suggestion and just the type of place we are looking for ,many thanks.

I will try and find the other places you suggest on a google search.
