My husband %26amp; I are thinking of spending Christmas in Tallinn. Can anyone advise me if it is a good time of year to go and what to expect please? For example, will there be anything open; what is the weather like etc? Any info would be helpful.

We ARE spending Christmas in Tallinn and would love to know if we could book a nice restaurant or something for Christmas lunch on 25 December? Or anything else that would be good to do no Christmas Day
Thanks!

Well the weather can be Christmas-like snowy or depressingly rainy. It depends.
But usually most shops are open and restaurants too. Shops usually have shortened days on 23.-24.12 or some 23.-26.12 again it depends on the shop.
If you want to book a table at some restaurant, you should act NOW! Because most of them will be reserved for the night.
But i think Tallinn is magical during Christmas... in old town we have the Christmas fair and some choirs sing or other performances.
The Christmas market usually starts already from 30.11 and lasts to 6.January...

Oh thank you. I will look into restaurants to book.
Any recommendations?!

For your information:
In Estonian there celebrate Christmas on the 24th of December and then 25th of December is going around to family and friends.
Both days are what they call here red days or Public holiday days off in UK.
Most restaurants are closed on these days....
Hotels opened though and there is a selected amount of restaurants open each year.
EVERY YEAR (AROUND 16.12.08) I NORMALLY PUBLIS WHAT IS OPEN AND TIMES OF OPENING FOR MUESUMS AND RESTAURANTS ETC
The Christmas market is open in the old town Square.
Would recommend you calling hotels and asking what they are doing.
We are doing an Estonian Christmas menu on 24th of December and English Christmas Lunch on 25th of December...
